About Al Waab International School
Al Waab International School (AWIS) has served Doha's expatriate and international community since 2005, offering a comprehensive American curriculum from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. Located on a generous campus along the busy Al Waab Street corridor, the school is ideally positioned for families residing in Al Waab, Al Aziziyah, Al Gharrafa and neighbouring districts, and benefits from excellent road connectivity to central Doha.
AWIS follows a standards-based American educational model that mirrors the rigour of leading independent schools in the United States. Students in Grades 9–12 have access to a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses across Mathematics, Sciences, English Literature, History and the Arts — a programme that is formally authorised by the College Board. AP examination results at AWIS consistently place students in the top tier of schools regionally, and the school maintains strong relationships with university admissions offices in the US, Canada, UK and Australia.
The school community is genuinely diverse, with students from over 55 nationalities enrolled. This cultural richness is celebrated through annual international events, Model United Nations conferences and a robust International Baccalaureate-aligned global citizenship curriculum woven into everyday classroom life. Arabic language instruction is compulsory for all students, as required by Qatar's Ministry of Education regulations, and is taught at differentiated levels to accommodate both Arabic-speaking students and those learning the language for the first time.
AWIS is particularly well regarded for its college advisory programme, which begins in Grade 9 and provides students with structured support for university applications, SAT/ACT preparation, personal statement coaching and scholarship guidance. The school's graduating class consistently achieves acceptances to competitive universities across multiple continents, reflecting the strength of its academic preparation and extracurricular profile-building activities.
