About North Star International School Al Khor

North Star International School Al Khor (NSIS) occupies a distinctive position in Qatar's education landscape as a high-quality British curriculum school serving the expatriate communities of Qatar's northern industrial corridor — primarily families employed by energy sector companies operating in and around Ras Laffan Industrial City. The school provides a genuinely community-focused educational experience that contrasts with the larger, more anonymous institutions found in central Doha.

The school delivers the National Curriculum of England from Foundation Stage through to Year 11, with Cambridge IGCSE examinations available across core and extended subject tiers. Class sizes are intentionally capped at 18 students, enabling teachers to provide a level of individual attention that is increasingly rare in larger urban schools. This small-school ethos extends beyond the classroom: student-teacher relationships are characterised by warmth and continuity, and the pastoral care team is widely praised by parents for its proactive approach to student wellbeing.

NSIS benefits from a close relationship with several of the major energy companies operating in the region, some of which provide direct fee assistance to employees as part of their relocation packages. This arrangement helps maintain a stable, established school community — an important factor for families who have relocated from overseas and are building social networks in a new country. The school's parent community is actively involved in school life, and regular social events foster a sense of belonging that many families identify as one of NSIS's most compelling advantages.

For families posted to the Al Khor area who might otherwise face a lengthy daily commute to schools in central Doha, North Star International School offers a credible, well-regarded alternative that delivers the British educational framework in a supportive and accessible setting. The school's bus service covers Al Khor township and key residential compounds near Ras Laffan, ensuring convenient access for the majority of enrolled families.
