Westminster International Academy

Westminster International Academy is a leading IB World School located in the historic heart of Westminster, within walking distance of the Houses of Parliament and St James's Park. The school serves a highly international student body of over 60 nationalities, offering the full International Baccalaureate continuum — Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) — for students aged 3 to 18.

The academic programme is rooted in the IB philosophy of developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people. In the Primary Years Programme, children engage in transdisciplinary units of inquiry that develop conceptual understanding alongside foundational literacy and numeracy skills. The Middle Years Programme provides a rigorous and balanced academic framework across eight subject groups, while the Diploma Programme offers students the opportunity to pursue Higher and Standard Level courses across six academic areas, complemented by the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirements.

The school operates from a substantial campus incorporating a Grade II listed building sympathetically restored alongside modern facilities. These include a purpose-built performing arts centre with a 300-seat auditorium, six fully equipped science laboratories, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a comprehensive library and research centre, and dedicated studios for visual arts and design technology. The ICT infrastructure supports a one-to-one device programme from Year 5 onwards.

Westminster International Academy holds authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organization and is accredited by both the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The school is also registered with the Department for Education and inspected under the ISI framework for independent schools.

IB Diploma results are consistently strong, with the school's average point score regularly exceeding the global average by three to four points. Graduates progress to distinguished universities worldwide, including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Sciences Po, MIT, and the University of Hong Kong. The school's dedicated university counselling team provides guidance from Year 10, covering UCAS, Common Application, and other international admissions systems.

Extracurricular activities are extensive and include competitive swimming, fencing, debating, Model United Nations, student-led publications, theatrical productions, and a comprehensive community service programme. Language provision includes French and German alongside English, with mother-tongue support available for additional languages.

Tuition fees range from GBP 22,000 to GBP 38,000 per year depending on the programme level, placing the school in the upper-mid tier of London's international school market. A limited number of merit-based bursaries are available for Diploma Programme students.
