About École française internationale Cousteau

École française internationale Cousteau (Cousteau, The French International School of Vancouver) was founded in 1997 by a group of parents with the support of the French Embassy. Its main campus is on Fromme Road in North Vancouver, and it also runs a French preschool, La Calypso, on West 7th Avenue in Vancouver.

The school teaches both the French national programme and the British Columbia curriculum, from pre-kindergarten to Grade 9. French is the main language of instruction (75-90% depending on the grade), English starts in pre-K and Spanish in Grade 4. Classes average about 15 students from more than 30 nationalities. It is part of the AEFE, Mission laïque française and Council of International Schools networks.

Tuition for 2026-27 at the main campus is CAD 19,600 for all grades for BC residents, with lower rates for siblings. New families also pay a CAD 1,600 admission fee and a refundable bond. Tuition for international and non-resident students is 35% higher.
