About Nelson Mandela School Berlin

Nelson Mandela School (NMS) in Wilmersdorf is Berlin's only fully bilingual state school offering instruction from Grade 1 through Grade 13 in both German and English. It is one of Germany's most respected IB World Schools, allowing students to graduate with the IB Diploma, the bilingual German Abitur, or both qualifications simultaneously.

The school follows a trilingual approach, incorporating the Berlin state curriculum, the National Curriculum of England and Wales, and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) in the younger years. From Grade 7, students enter the International Secondary School Program, selecting the track that best suits their university ambitions.

As a tuition-free Berlin public school, NMS is remarkable in offering IB education at no cost to families, making world-class international qualifications accessible to all. It is particularly popular with diplomatic families, academics, and internationally mobile professionals based in western Berlin.
