About The British School of Kuala Lumpur
The British School of Kuala Lumpur is one of Malaysia's most established and highly regarded providers of British-curriculum international education. Located on a spacious, tree-lined campus in Mont Kiara, the school serves over 1,100 students from more than 60 countries, delivering the English National Curriculum from Early Years Foundation Stage through to A-Levels for students aged 3 to 18. The school's heritage and reputation make it a first choice for British, European, and Commonwealth families relocating to Kuala Lumpur.
The academic programme follows the English National Curriculum with adaptations that reflect the school's international context. Students progress through Key Stages 1 to 3 before selecting IGCSE subjects in Year 10 from a broad menu of over twenty options. In the Sixth Form, students choose from twenty-four A-Level subjects including Economics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Psychology, Sociology, and a full complement of sciences, humanities, and creative arts. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is offered alongside A-Levels, helping students develop independent research skills highly valued by UK and international universities.
Teaching is delivered by a predominantly UK-trained faculty, with many staff holding master's degrees and subject specialist qualifications from leading British universities. Class sizes are capped at twenty-two in primary and twenty in secondary, allowing for personalised attention and strong pastoral care. The school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) leads a dedicated team supporting students with a range of learning profiles, ensuring that the school's inclusive ethos translates into tangible in-class support.
The campus is one of the most extensive in the Mont Kiara area, featuring purpose-built science laboratories, a well-stocked library, a drama studio and performing arts hall, a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool, a multi-purpose sports hall, tennis and basketball courts, a full-size football pitch, and dedicated art, design technology, and music facilities. The school has recently completed a new Innovation Centre housing computer science, robotics, and design thinking resources.
The British School of Kuala Lumpur is accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and inspected by Penta International under the BSO (British Schools Overseas) framework. A-Level results are consistently strong, with over 78 percent of grades at A*–B. The majority of leavers secure places at UK Russell Group universities, with a growing number also accepting offers from universities in Australia, Canada, the United States, and Asia. Annual tuition fees range from MYR 45,000 to MYR 98,000 depending on year group.
