Lantau International School

Lantau International School is the anchor educational institution of the Discovery Bay community on Lantau Island, serving the resident international population with a broad and well-regarded academic programme spanning Key Stage 1 through to IB Diploma level. The school caters to approximately 700 students from over 45 nationalities and has built a loyal community following over more than two decades of operation within the unique car-free village environment of Discovery Bay.

The academic programme follows the English National Curriculum in the primary years, transitioning to Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10 and 11. In the Sixth Form, Lantau International School offers the IB Diploma Programme as its principal post-16 pathway, reflecting the preference of its internationally mobile student body for a qualification recognised by universities worldwide. A small number of A-Level subjects are also available for students with specific subject requirements. The combination of British curriculum foundations and an IB Diploma exit qualification is a deliberate choice that prepares students for competitive universities across the UK, North America, Australia, and Asia.

The Discovery Bay campus benefits from the island's unique environment, with significant outdoor space that is unusual for a Hong Kong school. The grounds include a large sports field used for football, rugby, and athletics, four tennis courts, a 25-metre outdoor pool, and extensive landscaped areas used for outdoor learning and recreational activities. The campus also houses a well-stocked library, science laboratories, a design and technology workshop, art rooms, a music suite, and a recently refurbished performing arts hall.

Lantau International School is registered with the EDB and is a member of the Federation of English Schools in Hong Kong. Annual tuition fees range from HKD 124,000 to HKD 210,000, offering competitive value relative to many Hong Kong Island and Kowloon peers. The school operates its own ferry subsidy scheme for students commuting from Central and Tung Chung, making access straightforward for families based across the wider territory.
