About Het 4e Gymnasium

Het 4e Gymnasium is one of Amsterdam's finest public secondary schools, offering the highest level of Dutch secondary education — the Gymnasium track within VWO — to academically gifted students aged 12 to 18. The Gymnasium curriculum combines the full VWO programme with compulsory Latin and Ancient Greek, providing students with an exceptionally strong classical and analytical foundation.

Located in the Watergraafsmeer district, the school is part of the University of Amsterdam academic complex and benefits from close ties with the university's research faculty, giving motivated students access to enrichment programmes and academic mentoring beyond the standard curriculum.

Het 4e Gymnasium consistently ranks among the top state schools in Amsterdam and the broader Netherlands, with graduates routinely gaining entry to the country's most selective university degree programmes and international institutions.
