About North Shore IB Academy
North Shore IB Academy is a co-educational school in North Sydney offering the complete International Baccalaureate continuum from the Primary Years Programme through the Middle Years Programme to the Diploma Programme. The school serves students aged 3 to 18 and is authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organization for all three programmes, holding concurrent accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and registration with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Situated in the commercial heart of North Sydney with views across Sydney Harbour, the campus occupies a modern multi-storey facility purpose-built for IB education. Facilities include six science laboratories equipped for senior Diploma-level experimental work, a dedicated robotics and engineering lab supporting the school's strong STEM program, a 400-seat theatre for performing arts and assemblies, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, and a rooftop sports court.
The IB Diploma Programme results place the school among the top-performing IB schools in New South Wales. The average Diploma point score consistently exceeds the world average, and IB results are converted to an equivalent ATAR for Australian university admissions. Graduates have gained entry to the University of Sydney, UNSW, University of Melbourne, Australian National University, as well as international institutions including Oxford, UCL, University of Toronto, and NUS Singapore.
Language education is central to the school's program. Japanese and French are offered from the early years, with native-speaker instruction and exchange programs with partner schools in Tokyo and Lyon. The school also delivers English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for students from non-English-speaking backgrounds.
The school's NAPLAN results in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 demonstrate strong performance across all domains, with particular strength in numeracy and scientific literacy. Beyond academics, the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component of the IB Diploma is delivered through partnerships with local community organisations, competitive sailing on Sydney Harbour, and a biennial overseas service trip.
Extracurricular offerings include Model United Nations, debating, coding competitions, competitive swimming, football, and basketball. A comprehensive learning support department provides differentiated instruction for students with additional educational needs.
Tuition fees range from AUD 28,000 to AUD 45,000 per year depending on the programme level. The school offers a limited number of academic scholarships for entry into Years 7 and 11.
