About Bangsar Montessori School
Bangsar Montessori School is a specialist early childhood and primary school offering an authentic AMI-accredited Montessori education for children aged 2 to 12, complemented by Cambridge Primary pathways in the upper primary years. Nestled in the leafy residential streets of Bangsar, the school occupies a beautifully converted heritage bungalow with purpose-built extensions, creating a warm, home-like learning environment that is immediately distinctive from the high-rise campuses found elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur.
The school's pedagogical approach is firmly rooted in the Montessori philosophy as articulated by Maria Montessori and interpreted through the standards of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). Classrooms are designed as mixed-age communities — Toddler (2–3), Children's House (3–6), and Lower and Upper Elementary (6–9 and 9–12) — where children work with carefully sequenced Montessori materials at their own pace, guided by AMI-trained directresses. The emphasis is on self-directed learning, intrinsic motivation, concentration, and the development of social responsibility. From age 9, students are progressively introduced to Cambridge Primary frameworks in English, mathematics, and science, ensuring a smooth academic transition to international secondary schools offering IGCSE or IB programmes.
The school's intimate scale — approximately 180 students in total — enables exceptionally close teacher-child relationships and a deeply personalised approach to learning. Each child's developmental progress is documented through detailed individual learning portfolios, shared with parents during termly conferences. The school's multicultural community represents over 25 nationalities, and daily life is enriched by the diversity of languages, traditions, and perspectives that families bring.
Facilities reflect the Montessori emphasis on the prepared environment. Classrooms are spacious, light-filled, and meticulously organised with high-quality Montessori materials. The school features a dedicated outdoor learning garden, a nature exploration area, a music room, an art atelier, a small library, and a shaded outdoor play area. A daily Mandarin programme is offered from Children's House level, and Bahasa Malaysia is introduced through cultural activities and enrichment sessions.
Bangsar Montessori School is accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The school maintains a strong reputation for preparing children who are confident, self-motivated, and academically well-grounded for transition to competitive international secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur and beyond. Annual tuition fees range from MYR 22,000 to MYR 54,000 depending on the programme level.
